Elegant Pins With A Bit Of Practice
If there's one thing I want to make clear right away, it's that the picture does not do justice to these beautiful bobbie pins. I received the France Luxe Stacked Crystals Bobbie Pins as a VIP Reviewer and, stunned as soon as I opened the package at the way they look -- two large, faceted smoky quartz crystals offset by two gold-backed squares of nine smaller, shimmering crystals -- as well as how well they're made. Despite my best efforts, I could not loosen those stones; however France Luxe has mounted the crystals, they're not going anywhere.
However, I am less enthusaistic about the way the bobbie pins work. Although fine teeth guide and smooth your hair, letting it lay flat on the other die of the pins, and a button holds the pins together, I discovered that the pins slide out of my hair within minutes of securing them in place. Also, there is an extended loop at the end of the pins, so you must secure these clips in a way that hides the loop. This is fairly easy with a little practice, but after several tries, I still haven't figured out how to get these gorgeous, elegant pins to stay in my hair.
Are they worth four stars? Yes, and for anyone who's used to working with rather slippery clips, these are worth even more. They're so beautiful, that I'm going to keep on trying to make them stay where they belong; they're worth the effort.
