I have natrually wavy hair and most days I scrunch some mousse in it, dry a bit and go. But there are those occasions I want to put a little more effort for a different style... I had my Paul Mitchell flat iron for about 8 years now and it makes my hair frizzy and flat. With this Sconicglide I love my hair straight. Your hair isn't scalding hot after you run the iron over it, even on high. The detangling pins make it hard to go over on the first pass but after that its smooth... I like it though its like it is brushing your hair as you straighten it. I like the Sconic vibration also, it helps the pins glide through your hair easier. My cousin really liked it too. I have not tried the steam yet and am not sure if I will because it gets mine straght with out it. But I love it. I wish I had more time to style my hair and I would wear it straight more often now. :) Very happy with the results!

Not For Thick Hair
It got tangled easily and when using the steam it left an imprint on my hair.

Not As Good As The Original
I have natural hair, and was lucky enough to discover the original maxiglide pretty early on in my natural hair journey. That flat iron is fantastic! Cant say enough good things about it. It NEVER damaged my hair and my curls always reverted back after straightening. The steam burst option is really the star feature of the iron-- makes hair silky smooth and gives added moisture to dry hair. As you can see, I'm a huge fan of the original. So it was very upsetting when the ceramic coating on the detangling pins wore off and began ripping my hair out after about a year and a half of use. I love the iron so much, that I decided to buy another one asap, but the original has been "out of stock" for a long time, and probably is on its way to being discontinued. I was happy to find this updated version and purchased it immediately. However, I must say that I am slightly underwhelmed with this version. I cant detect any sonic vibrations at all-- in fact, it seems like the style of the iron has changed, but not much else. The steam feature is a bit strange now, because water actually seeps out of the holes when you press the button (not a lot, but definitely enough to slightly dampen your hair and potentially cause damage from running a hot iron over damp hair). Think of how sometimes droplets of water come out of the holes in a clothes iron when using steam. AND the original maxiglide flat ironed so well, that I didnt need to use it on 10, 5-8 always worked well. But this new iron didnt even make my hair super straight on heat level 8 and I had to make multiples passes on each piece of hair! I never had this issue before. All things considered, I'll stick with this version of the maxiglide until it becomes unusable, because I do think that my natural hair would suffer from heat damage with other flat irons.

Love It
I really love this flat iron. It gets my hair straight but leaves me with enough body that my hair doesn't look flat and lifeless. I would've given it a five, but the pins kinda pull my hair out so I mainly use it with the flat plate.
