So Far... So Good
I bought this because it was recommended by my hair dresser after I told her I don't like styling products in my hair. I told her that my normal routine consists of a blow-out followed by shine serum, and that hairspray only comes into the picture when I have to put my hair up in a pony for the gym or pin up my bangs when they're misbehaving. My first impression when the tube of Brilliantine arrived was how small it was. I paid twenty bucks for something that is about as big as a tube of travel-size toothpaste! I tried it out this past weekend. I blew out my hair until it was nice an fluffy. Then I squeeze a dime-size amount, rubbed it in both hands, and applied to my hair. It gave my hair a slight tackiness and made my hair look more textured and tousled (instead of fresh and bouncy). But not so much that my hair didn't look fresh anymore. This is not like those beach hair products that make you look like you have sand and salt in your hair. The effect is slight but noticeable and that little bit of tack it added really helped my hair keep it's style throughout the day. The most noticeable thing was that my hair still look the same the next day. Brilliantine didn't leave a super bright shine like I'm used to when I use my shine serum. So I sprayed on some shine stuff afterwards. Overall, I'm sure that you can achieve a similar effect with a bit of shine serum and some minimal hold hair spray, sprayed lightly and worked through the ends of your hair. And for how little product you get for the price, I have to give it 3 stars. But if you love hair products, this really does what it claims to do...and is worth a try.
