Cortex 1 1/4" Metallic Platinum Edition Iron

I received this tool yesterday and was excited to try it. At first it seemed to work well but the first thing I noticed is that between straightening different locks of hair it got noticeably cooler, to the point that I had to really slow down my pace. It was fine on the first strand of hair but it seems this iron doesn't stay hot as the hair passes through the plates, cooling them. To top it of, the finish is chipping off near the sides of the plates. No way, this is going back! Not a bargain if it doesn't work!

This product was not as expected. There was some sort of oil/grease on the plates when I took it out of the box which was strange. I cleaned it up, plugged it in and now it makes a weird smell every time it starts to heat up. It's also making some weird sizzling sound inside that sounds like an electrical short. I need to send this back asap. I bought a Cortex curler a few months ago and it worked well but just yesterday it broke. I guess it's just not a quality brand.

I've been using the cortex straightener for years, this is the third one I have bought from Folica.com and I am sad to say I am so dissapointed! My first two were amazing, but this one even though looks similar in the pictures is absolutely horrible! When I opened the box i immediately knew something was different, the flat iron smelled so weird and it just looked really cheaply made. I used it today and it did not get very hot even though I had it at 450 degrees and it made weird noises while it was on and the smell was terrible. It made my hair stink like burned plastic. I don't recommend this to ANYONE! My hair felt like crap after running this through it. I'm so sad I have to find a new straightener after this was my tried and true brand for so long!
