Buy For Waves - Not Curl
I'm sure you've all read the reviews, but I have to reiterate that this is NOT a traditional curling iron. If you want curls, buy a smaller barreled curling iron. This is a wave maker that styles hair beautifully - makes my hair look like I just left the salon and got a fabulous blowout. I have long, thick, curly hair (mid-back) that I color regularly every 4-5 weeks. When I straight-iron, it looks too severe, so I decided to try this tool to soften my look. The first time I used this, my husband (the man who notices nothing) told me he loved my hair, and I got compliments from just about everyone I encountered that day (even the grocery store clerk). I do have pretty hair, but this just makes it prettier. I was NOT looking for 'curls,' but wavy styling, so I am really satisfied with this tool. It's worth noting that I think this tool works best on longer hair. You really must have sufficient hair to wrap around the iron to let it do its job. I think it would be difficult to use on shorter hair unless the user just wanted to style the ends of the hair. I love this iron and hope you will too.
One thing to add: The first time I used this iron, I burned my cheek. It is BIG, a bit awkward (and I am a bit clumsy when I'm not paying attention - and I wasn't then, as I was distracted by my dog). It also gets VERY hot (I use heat setting 4 out of 5). Anyway, my cheek luckily is completely healed, and I still love the tool and have used it safely numerous times since then. Just be careful when using the first few times until you get used to this tool's chunky size. Regarding another reviewer's comment on the tools 'design flaw' because it rolls: Mine actually has a divot on the end that stabilizes it. Nevertheless, I think it can easily move if the cord is accidentally tugged or if it isn't put down directly onto a flat surface. It is lightweight considering its size. This makes it easier to use, but also makes it more prone to moving, since it isn't weighted down. My advice? We are all adults: Just be careful!
